{ New in the Shop} 241 Batik Sling Bag

I have this orange batik for a long time. It's one of those modern batik depicting Jakarta's landmarks and cultures. I always wanted to make bag with it but could not find a perfect pattern for it, until last week!

Well, Noodlehead pattern is always my favorite and this 241 tote was on my wishlist. I am glad I finally made it.

It's perfect to carry around while you're on the go

2 pockets on the sides is very handy to keep your sunglasses or those brochures you pick up on the road

the slanted exterior zipper pocket is so cute and perfect to keep your bus/train card or small changes or even your hotel card when you travel.

I will definitely take this sling bag on my next trip.

So, when you're planning your next holiday, don't forget to grab one of this bag.

Now this bag is available for custom order in my ETSY shop
{psst.. you like a customized bag. I have more fabric options}

or you can just click this button below to buy:

Mawlynnong and living root bridge

Finally I got to visit the famous Mawlynnong - the cleanest village in Asia - which is in our neighboring State of Meghalaya. I've seen many few post doing around on facebook.
so, last Diwali holiday we - finally - went  to Mawlynnong in East Khasi Hills

Mawlynnong is 3 hours drive from Shillong. The long winding road with spectacular  view is well worth it.

It was a clear sunny day when we went

you will see few house (huts?) after a long stretch of empty land

it's like a never ending road

with blue and green  silhouette of hills

there are few small towns in between.

And finally we saw the sign

And after 3 hours, this is what you find in the deepest East Khasi Hills

A clean village with not a single drop of leave on it's pathways

and the bluest sky

Bamboo bridge sky view

where you can see Bangladesh land from the top

and the next STOP is Natural Living Root Bridge

going RIGHT or going down - you choose :D

narrow stones pathway leading down to the bridge

Apparently there are few bridges like this one. Few of them are in Cheerapunji

can't get enough of this natural beauty

 going back up

More Photos are HERE

and if you want to read more stories, you can read Mike Marlowe Blog where he wrote in details about his trip

Until then

Have a nice day

What inspired you?

Well, for me, when I'm not in the mood to sew, usually folding fabrics do the tricks, esp.during "that" time of the month when my mood usually at the lowest.

Last week, I've got my fabric stocks delivered for my Etsy shop but I was just not too excited about it. Until I took them out from the package. Ha!

For those who's not familiar with Indian cotton, you should really try this. This one is soft light weight cotton which is suitable for any projects.

whether you want soft love volume floral prints

or bright flowers

or an autumn warm colors

After a whole day of folding and photographing all those, I cut up few strips.
I have  lots of plans and ideas in my head.

Let's see what I will make out of these strips

Until then

Happy Sewing

Not Handmade by Me :-)

I marvel at the vibrant of Indian crafts which available a plenty in the market. I imagines it must have been handmade by some group of people somewhere from fabric scraps and they made it into beautiful vibrant crafts.

One of those are these pretty bags you can collect as many you as want since it's very very cheap. Yet, it's sturdy and lasting. I saw most of the rural people here where I live, used these handmade bags for their daily errands, going to college, etc.

These ones I shop for a dear friend in Indonesia who wants to open a shop and she wanted something Indian with bright colours. I still have more to shop *yay* and believe me I can spend hours in the market LOL..

Let me know if you want one too...:)
